A senior official in the State of Hawaii's Department of Health, Director of Communications Janice Okubo, confirms that the image published and circulated by the Obama campaign as his "birth certificate" lacks the necessary embossed seal and signature. Backing away from a quote attributed to her that the image on the campaign site was "valid," she told the St. Petersburg (Florida) Times in an article published yesterday (June 27): "I don't know that it's possible for us to even say beyond a doubt what the image on the site represents." Below is the image of the birth certificate published on Obama's and other left-wing blog sites.

On this claimed copy of Obama's birth certificate, notice that the certificate number has been blacked out, there is no authenticating signature, there is no embossed seal and there are no folds.

Amy Hollyfield of the St. Petersburg Times, and a reporter for the paper's "Politifact" blog, said that she has been seeking the birth certificate "for months."

She was frustrated: "Hawaii birth certificates aren't public record. Only family members can request copies, so when the campaign declined to give us one, we were stalled." Finally, the campaign released the image (resembling the one at the top of this article).

Hollyfield e-mailed it to the Hawaii Department of Health, which maintains such records, to ask if it was real.

"It's a valid Hawaii state birth certificate," spokesman Janice Okubo told us.

Then the firestorm started. Israel Insider contacted Okubo several days. She could not refer to Obama's specific case, she said, because no one but an authorized family member can do so. But she did confirm that a valid "certification of live birth" would need to have an embossed seal and signature and that it can only be printed and mailed. There is no such thing as an electronic only certification.

On this legitimate birth certificate notice that the certificate number can be clearly read, there is an authenticating signature on the back of the certificate which clearly shows through to the front, there is an embossed seal, again on the back but clearly visible from the front and there are folds.

It's clearly Photoshopped and a wholesale fraud."

Because if this document is forged, then they all are. If this document is forged, a U.S. senator and his presidential campaign have perpetrated a vast, long-term fraud.

MAN-MADE climate change

The manufacture of flat screen TVs is being blamed for adding to global warming yet reputable climatology scientists all over the world are saying that global warming is being caused primarily by the sun. Sun spots in particular.

Non-scientists, such as Al Gore, are claiming that man is causing the majority of global warming.

Like Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, the concept of man-made global warming should be debated IN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY, before it is placed before the public. Instead, the issue has been politicized and is being used as a scare tactic the drag America to the level of a third-world nation.

The first photo shows the relative size of the sun and the planets. The earth, on the lower right, is little more than a speck. And remember, even though the sun is about 96,000,000 miles away, it burns our skin, melts the snow in the spring, can and often does interfere with radio and television transmissions, and is being considered as a source of alternate energy. Yet these pseudo-scientists and power-hungry politicians see the issue as a way to put more controls over our economy and our lives.

The second photo is of Al Gore's mansion which uses as much energy as a small city. Yet he wants to abolish the internal combusion engine and put us on bicycles while he cruises around in one of his SUVs and uses a private jet.

The last photo is of Al Gore's big, fat mouth.

Now, which two of the three, the sun, Al Gore's mansion or Al Gore's mouth, causes the most MAN-MADE global warming?

Lobbyists will be involved in writing the Democratic platform under Barack Obama , who has campaigned against special interest influence in Washington and bashed his rivals for accepting contributions from paid lobbyists.

Two members of the Democratic Party’s platform drafting committee, Thea Lee of the AFL-CIO and Donna Harris-Aiken of the National Education Association, are registered lobbyists. The panelists, who will submit their plan to the party’s full platform committee for ratification next month, were announced Tuesday in a joint release from the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign.

The principal author of the platform draft is Karen Kornbluh, an aide in Obama’s Senate office who is married to telecommunications lobbyist Jim Halpert. Halpert has lobbied for Time Warner, Amazon, Comcast, eBay, Experian and two electronic commerce consortia in recent years, according to records filed with the House of Representatives."

The latest to emerge publicly in Obama’s camp is Joelle Fishman, the chairman of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) Political Action Commission. In a column titled, “Big political shifts are underway,” Fishman says that Obama could lead “a landslide defeat of the Republican ultra-right” this November and that he is “ready to listen” to the “left and progressive voters” backing him. Fishman makes it clear that the CPUSA is part of this coalition.

Meanwhile, admitted CPUSA member Alan Maki, writing on the official Barack Obama website, in the “community blogs” section under an “Obama 08” banner, has mentioned the unmentionable. That is the role of CPUSA member Frank Marshall Davis in mentoring Obama during his formative high school years in Hawaii.

Although fine print at the bottom of the page says that “Content on blogs in My.BarackObama represents the opinions of community members and in no way should be interpreted as endorsed or approved by the campaign,” the information provided by Maki is deadly confirmation that a hard-core CPUSA member played a key role in helping raise Obama. It is a story that most media, including some “conservative” news outlets, have shied away from."

"Senator Obama's idea is characteristic of an elitist mindset declaring that it is not the job of immigrants to America to learn English, but that it the job of Americans to learn the language of the immigrants," said Mauro E. NEVER FORGET THE PRICE THAT WAS PAID FOR OUR FREEDOM BY REAL AMERICAN HEROES!!!

Take the day, July 4, to ponder the wonderful country we live in and the sacrifices that have been made and continue to be made, to ensure that freedom.

On the 4th of July we celebrate our independence from England. But that independence and the freedom and liberty that came with it, have been bought with the blood, sweat, sacrifice, death and tears of patriots who have taken up arms in our defense.

We salute them all - the living veterans, the dead, the maimed and the unsung heroes of our history, from the Revolutionary War to WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. They went into harm's way and didn't falter.

God Bless them all and may God continue to bless America.

Americans lost a hero in April of 2003 when Lt. Col. Carroll G. Biggs, USAF (Retired), died in Ruston, Louisiana.

Biggs was a Second Lieutenant in the 306th Bomb Group, 369th Squadron, 8th Army, serving in the European Theater of Operations out of Therleigh, England in 1944.

He was flying his seventh combat mission into Germany as pilot of a B-17 bomber when tragedy struck. Not only was his plane shot down by German fighters, but he and most of his 10-man crew were taken prisoner by the Germans.

Biggs' plane, nicknamed "Misscarriage," was shot down at approximately 1:40 p.m., April 24, 1944, deep inside Germany, Biggs wrote in his memoirs. "Our plane was hit on the first fighter pass as two groups of German planes came into the airspace. We were in trouble," Biggs wrote.

With two engines out and the entire right wing in flames, an internal oxygen fire threatening the bombs and three crew members badly wounded, Biggs ordered the bombs jettisoned and his crew to bail out.

Alone on the plane, he decided to try and fly the crippled bomber to Switzerland. "I would have stubbornly tried to accomplish this feat but a distinct voice said to me, 'Carroll, get out!'" he wrote. "I am grateful now that I listened. The plane exploded about the time my 'chute opened."

Biggs' parachute became entangled in pine trees and he hung there until a German farmer with a shotgun and his wife, who was armed with a pitchfork, captured him. He was turned over to German troops and his experience as a prisoner of war began.

For the most part Biggs didn't talk about his experiences as a POW, his daughter, Marion Biggs McCann said.

"Years went by before he talked about it. I was married with children before he shared anything with me." she said. "He just didn't like to talk about what happened - he saw so many bad things."

She recalled for me one major life changing incident being that of a death march he was on where American POWs and German civilians were being forced to relocate by German SS troops.

"If the women, children and old people couldn't keep up, the German troops would pull them to the side of the road and shoot them in cold blood," McCann said. "He was terrified those horrible atrocities of war he witnessed would destroy his ability to feel compassion."

When the family dog died, Biggs buried the animal in the rain as tears streamed down his face. He later told his daughter he was sad over losing the dog but grateful to learn through the death of a pet that he hadn't lost his compassion.

He was held as a POW in Stalag Luft III for a year and five days until he and some other prisoners were liberated by Gen. George S. Patton's 3rd Army group on April 29, 1945.

"He was traumatized by the war," McCann said. "He was mistreated as a prisoner, but he never lost his ability to feel compassion for others. He was the patriarch of our family and we will miss him."

I was born in 1942 and my very first memory is running toward the railroad tracks to see Uncle Harold. Red-haired, freckle-faced Uncle Harold.

Harold Pratt, standing so tall in his soldier uniform, was coming home to visit my mother, Mary, his favorite sister.

I remember Uncle Harold hoisting me onto his shoulders and running down the sidewalk to our house with me squealing and bouncing along for the ride.

Then came 1945 and my next memory was of my mother, sitting in front of her make-up mirror, brushing her auburn hair, crying. The radio was tuned to WJJD in Chicago and Ernest Tubbs' rendition of "Walking the Floor Over You" was playing.

"Why are you crying," I asked.

"Because Uncle Harold is dead," she said. "He was killed on Okinawa."

Bits and pieces of my mother's memories of her brother came out over the years - his freckles - his spontaneous good humor - his winning the harmonica competition in Fremont, Michigan - his going to advanced infantry training - his burial in Hawaii.

The Battle of Okinawa, also known as Operation Iceberg, was fought on the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa and was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The 82 day battle lasted from late March through June 1945. The battle has been referred to as the "Typhoon of Steel" in English, and tetsu no ame ("rain of steel") or tetsu no bofu ("violent wind of steel") in Japanese. The nicknames refer to the ferocity of the fighting, the intensity of gunfire involved, and sheer numbers of Allied ships and armored vehicles that assaulted the island.

The battle has one of the highest casualties: the Japanese lost over 90,000 troops, and the Allies (mostly United States) suffered nearly 50,000 casualties, with over 12,000 killed in action. Hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed, wounded or attempted suicide.

Then as fate would have it, I found myself on Okinawa almost 20 years later. I was in the Navy and while on liberty I was drinking a beer in a bar in Naha, Okinawa. Alongside me was a real hard-case. Marines and sailors are traditional opponents, but this particular sergeant, seemed sad, almost pensive.

So, I bought him a beer. We sized each other up and apparently decided a fist-fight would be about even, so we struck up a conversation.

"Have you been to the beach yet?" he asked.

"Nope," I replied. "I'm going tomorrow."

"Then let's go together," Sarge said. A couple of beers later I asked why he wanted to visit "the beach."

"Because my dad was killed in the Okinawa invasion," he said. "Why do you want to go?"

"Because my Uncle Harold was killed in the invasion," I said.

The next morning we stood silently, shoulder to shoulder, a Marine and a sailor, tears streaming down our cheeks, on a hill overlooking the beach that claimed so many American lives including his dad and my uncle. We could still see the horrible artifacts of war - the sunken landing craft, the tanks that never fired a shot. We were on hallowed ground - ground that our loved ones gave their lives for - and we were humbled beyond words.

So, yeah, enjoy your barbeque and fireworks this 4th of July!! When the fireworks light up the skies, let your heart remember our patriots who sacrificed so much to give us our Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, our freedom and our liberty.

Please Lord, know that we thank You for how You continue to bless Sarge's dad, Carroll Biggs and my Uncle Harold. We know they are with You and they are guarding the streets of heaven, because they've already been through hell.

Hey, George...those three guys are putting in a good word for you right now!! I am a firm believer that all are alive in Heaven just like Jesus. They are only a prayer, a breath away....they do see us...they probably help watch over us....Jesus conquered death and He lives and so do they! Too many things have happened to me for me not to believe that nothing is co-incidental. It is more likely divine happenstance if anything...did I make up a word.

Barack Obama has claimed in writing to have a valid printed document: In the first chapter of his book Dreams From My Father, describing his origins, he wrote about finding a local Hawaiian newspaper article about his Kenyan father: 'I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school.'

So where is that birth certificate? It got lost? The dog ate it? No matter. Barack Obama or an immediate family member can plunk down $10 ($11.50 if he orders online) and have Hawaii mail a certified document to him within a week or two. But more than two weeks have passed since the Obama campaign adopted the suspect, uncertified image of a purported birth document published by a left-wing blog Daily Kos, and nothing certified and nothing on paper has since has been forthcoming. Nor has there been any official comment about the issue from the campaign. They may cling to the hope -- however audacious -- that the one issue that could disqualify their man constitutionally from gaining the presidency will just go away."

Can everyone say impeach the “supremes?

In spite of all the hoopla surrounding the so-called supreme Court, in reality, the justices are nothing more than glorified lawyers who have been appointed to their high station by a president and ratified by the Senate.

Every Congress-critter and each Supreme Court Justice have taken an oath to support, defend and uphold the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land.

Five of the current justices have violated that oath and NEED to be impeached and removed from office. The removal is also provided for in the Constitution which says, in part: “The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour… “

Forget their life-time appointments – THEY CAN AND SHOULD BE IMPEACHED.

Last week, by a narrow 5-4 ruling, the court upheld a constitutional provision written in the Second Amendment that says private citizens (the real militia) have the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. The vote should have been 9-0 to uphold the Constitution.

The four justices (glorified lawyers) who voted against the Constitution NEED to be impeached and removed from office. Those four are John Paul Stevens, David Hackett Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Steven Breyer. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy also needs to be impeached in spite of his correct vote on this issue. That comment will be the topic of a future column.

I haven’t read every word of the dissenting overpaid lawyers’ opinions, but in the first 30 pages or so, the dissenting idiots relied heavily on European (foreign) law and opinions.

Sorry lawyers, I live in America and totally reject foreign opinions and advice. The dissenters, anti-constitutionalists all, led by Stevens, also cited arguments that were written prior to the adoption of the Constitution and rejected by the Founders.

By contrast, Justice Antonin Scalia relied heavily on the actual wording of the Constitution. What a concept – someone who actually relies on the law as written in the supreme law of the land. Hooray for Justices Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. and John G. Roberts Jr. They have done our nation proud and deserve their seats on the supreme Court.

As for the other five, they would be of more use as compost in my garden. My soil has a lot of clay and the manure would be helpful. They need to be impeached and removed from office.

Former U.S. military officers helping train Hamas in war against Israel

GAZA CITY — U.S. volunteers with military backgrounds have been recruited to help train the new Hamas army in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian sources said one of the Americans was former U.S. Army captain Fares Al Ashi, Middle East Newsline reported.

"This information is important for the youth," Al Ashi said during a briefing to visiting journalists in Gaza City.

The sources said Al Ashi, a specialist in explosives and weapons, had been trained in South Carolina during his years with the U.S. military.

"We give them general information about the explosives, those manufactured locally and the Israeli ones, because those people always reach the dangerous places before we, the bomb squad, do."

Al Ashi and the other Americans were said to have been identified as Muslims who joined the U.S. military in the 1990s. The sources said the Americans relayed U.S. military methods and training to Hamas for its war against Israel.

For starters, I gave up on the hanging garden of Hodge.

The tomato plants weren’t getting enough sunlight, so I took them down and carefully placed the containers in the garden in the usual manner – right-side up. But the heat and versilium wilt are taking their toll. I’m afraid we won’t have a bumper crop this year.

Yet, here it is, the day before summer begins when I took these pictures and we’ve already put up 3-1/2 quarts of dill pickles and our watermelons are as big around as Al Gore’s head.

We’ll enjoy the first two ears of sweet corn tomorrow, June 21, as well as a salad featuring our leaf lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes.

The following pix will give you an idea what our garden is doing.

Pictures from the top down: One advantage of growing pickles on a tripod is I don't have to get on my knees (all the time) to pick pickles. These are just hanging there waiting to be harvested.

We love our radishes so this year we are experimenting with radishes in a pot.

We love tarragon but there is no place in town that has it, so we grew our own

This melon was smaller than Al Gore's head on June 16. But now it is bigger than Al Gore's head. Just hope it isn't as empty.

We are experimenting this year. Here is a pic of some of our beets.

As you can see, the "wilt" got to our tomatoes early. But we will harvest a few. These are our cherry tomatoes.

Knee high corn by the 4th? Forget it. We'll be eating ours before the 4th.

Border Governors, Once Skeptical of Dispatching National Guard, Now Worried About Pullout

McALLEN, Texas — The thousands of National Guardsmen sent to reinforce the U.S.-Mexican border two years ago have almost completely withdrawn, despite pleas from border-state governors once skeptical of using soldiers to catch illegal immigrants and drug smugglers.

When the Guard was posted along the southern frontier in 2006 to help the strapped Border Patrol, critics warned that sending soldiers would be an insult to Mexico and that innocents could get shot by troops trained for combat, not law enforcement.

But none of that happened, and now those worries have given way to fears that a bloody drug-cartel war on the Mexican side will spill into the U.S. and overwhelm the Border Patrol.

The four border-state governors who contributed the bulk of the troops have tried in vain to persuade Congress and the White House to extend the Guard's presence, which will end as scheduled on July 15.

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably to the growing movement that culminated in Gen Logan giving his official proclamation in 1868. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). It is now celebrated in almost every State on the last Monday in May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays.)

Traditional observance of Memorial Day has diminished over the years. Many Americans nowadays have forgotten the meaning and traditions of Memorial Day. At many cemeteries, the graves of the fallen are increasingly ignored, neglected. Most people no longer remember the proper flag etiquette for the day. While there are towns and cities that still hold Memorial Day parades, many have not held a parade in decades. Some people think the day is for honoring any and all dead, and not just those fallen in service to our country.

To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the National Moment of Remembrance was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to Taps.

B. Hussein Obama on gun control

In my honest opinion, gun control, of any nature, is a violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution.

Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

To my way of thinking, the sticking points of the Amendment are "well regulated militia" and "the right of the people."

But the key point is "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

I will delve into this later in greater detail, but to our Founding Fathers, the militia was virtually anyone capable of shooting a gun, not a "national guard" as anti-Constitution hacks would have us believe.

The real purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to allow free men, the citizens of their individual states, to oppose and hopefully overthrow, a despotic, tyrannical central government.

As Barack Obama's candidacy comes under increasing scrutiny, his account of his religious upbringing deserves careful attention for what it tells us about the candidate's integrity.

Obama asserted in December, "I've always been a Christian," and he has adamantly denied ever having been a Muslim. "The only connection I've had to Islam is that my grandfather on my father's side came from that country [Kenya]. But I've never practiced Islam." In February, he claimed: "I have never been a Muslim. … other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for 4 years when I was a child [Indonesia, 1967-71] I have very little connection to the Islamic religion."

"Always" and "never" leave little room for equivocation. But many biographical facts, culled mainly from the American press, suggest that, when growing up, the Democratic candidate for president both saw himself and was seen as a Muslim.

Obama's Kenyan birth father:

In Islam, religion passes from the father to the child. Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. (1936-1982) was a Muslim who named his boy Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Only Muslim children are named "Hussein".

Obama's Indonesian family:

His stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, was also a Muslim. In fact, as Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng explained to Jodi Kantor of the New York Times: "My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim." An Indonesian publication, the Banjarmasin Post reports a former classmate, Rony Amir, recalling that "All the relatives of Barry's father were very devout Muslims."

The Catholic school:

Nedra Pickler of the Associated Press reports that "documents showed he enrolled as a Muslim" while at a Catholic school during first through third grades. Kim Barker of the Chicago Tribune confirms that Obama was "listed as a Muslim on the registration form for the Catholic school." A blogger who goes by "An American Expat in Southeast Asia" found that "Barack Hussein Obama was registered under the name 'Barry Soetoro' serial number 203 and entered the Franciscan Asisi Primary School on 1 January 1968 and sat in class 1B. … Barry's religion was listed as Islam."

The public school:

Paul Watson of the Los Angeles Times learned from Indonesians familiar with Obama when he lived in Jakarta that he "was registered by his family as a Muslim at both schools he attended." Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star visited the Jakarta public school Obama attended and found that "Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim." Although Siddiqui cautions that "With the school records missing, eaten by bugs, one has to rely on people's shifting memories," he cites only one retired teacher, Tine Hahiyari, retracting her earlier certainty about Obama's being registered as a Muslim.

Koran class:

In his autobiography, Dreams of My Father, Obama relates how he got into trouble for making faces during Koranic studies, thereby revealing he was a Muslim, for Indonesian students in his day attended religious classes according to their faith. Indeed, Obama still retains knowledge from that class: Nicholas D. Kristof of the New York Times, reports that Obama "recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them [to Kristof] with a first-rate accent."

Mosque attendance:

Obama's half-sister recalled that the family attended the mosque "for big communal events." Watson learned from childhood friends that "Obama sometimes went to Friday prayers at the local mosque." Barker found that "Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers." One Indonesia friend, Zulfin Adi, states that Obama "was Muslim. He went to the mosque. I remember him wearing a sarong" (a garment associated with Muslims).

Piety:

Obama himself says that while living in Indonesia, a Muslim country, he "didn't practice [Islam]," implicitly acknowledging a Muslim identity. Indonesians differ in their memories of him. One, Rony Amir, describes Obama as "previously quite religious in Islam."

Obama's having been born and raised a Muslim and having left the faith to become a Christian make him neither more nor less qualified to become president of the United States. But if he was born and raised a Muslim and is now hiding that fact, this points to a major deceit, a fundamental misrepresentation about himself that has profound implications about his character and his suitability as president.

Obama admitted to exchanging ideas with Ayers on an irregular basis but did not say what those ideas were.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama tried to deflect a question about his relationship with terrorist Bill Ayers by saying that he “engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8-years-old” and that he was now a professor and a neighbor. The real issue is whether Obama shares Ayers’ communist views. Obama admitted to exchanging ideas with Ayers on an irregular basis but did not say what those ideas were. But we know that Ayers, rather than just being a 1960s “radical,” was a member of a Marxist-Leninist communist group.

The Weather Underground, or Weathermen, wasn’t just home-grown and domestic in nature, although it had evolved from the so-called Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), which laid siege to college campuses and tried to take over administration buildings. Their openly proclaimed goal was world communism and they had links to hostile foreign powers.

“We’re revolutionary communists,” Ayers himself said in 1969.
The FBI said that the Weather Underground had more contacts abroad than the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA.

Which brings up another so far unmentionable aspect of Obama’s background―the role of his childhood mentor, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis. This is the hard-core Soviet apologist who filled Obama’s head full of anti-American thoughts at a tender age.

About Ayers, Obama said that he’s not somebody he exchanges ideas with “on a regular basis.” What ideas? And does that mean he communicates with him on an occasional basis? We need more questions and answers.

But in a posting on the far-left Huffington Post website, Ayers’ brother, Rick Ayers, accused Senator Hillary Clinton of McCarthyism for daring to comment on Obama’s ties to this communist terrorist when the subject came up in the April 16 Democratic presidential debate. Such a charge of “McCarthyism” is designed to intimidate not only Clinton but the media.

Does the phony charge of “McCarthyism” prevent the media from exploring the more critical issue of Frank Marshall Davis’s influence on Obama?

The Davis connection is essential to understanding why Obama would exchange any ideas at all with Ayers. At this point in his life, after he had moved from Hawaii, where he listened to Davis’s Marxist “poetry” and anti-American and pro-Soviet rants, Obama was receptive to the kinds of “ideas” that Ayers would offer to him. The media should demand to know what those ideas were.

The False Veneer

Obama has been clever to appear bipartisan and moderate, despite a very liberal voting record. He let his guard down in a big way when he not only endorsed but sponsored the Global Poverty Act, funneling a massive amount of foreign aid (by one informed estimate $845 billion) to Africa and the rest of the world, perhaps as partial reparations for slavery. It is curious that Obama doesn’t talk about this bill, which is on the verge of Senate passage, and it is strange that the major media don’t mention it, either. It is a potential budget buster that sheds light on Obama’s worldview.

The “exchange” of views with Ayers and others of his ilk may also shed light on what Obama might do in other areas, such as the critical field of education, where the federal government has assumed a larger role. It turns out that Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, another former communist terrorist, are now specializing in the education and the raising of young people. They even have a book coming out on the subject.

Obama himself seems to have some strange ideas on child-rearing, having brought his young children to hear Sunday sermons from a pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who has exhibited anti-American and anti-white tendencies and sentiments.

The Foreign Connection

For his part, Ayers wasn’t just a terrorist; he was a communist terrorist aligned with and manipulated by Moscow’s communist apparatus, operating through Cuba, against the United States. Many members of the group traveled to Cuba, sometimes to meet with the Vietnamese communists, and others went directly to Hanoi, North Vietnam. One of their stated objectives was to prevent the U.S. from stopping a communist takeover of Vietnam. They succeeded, with the acquiescence of a liberal Congress, which cut off U.S. aid to the South Vietnamese government, and more than 58,000 American soldiers died in vain.

Senator John McCain was an American prisoner of war being tortured by the North Vietnamese communists while Ayers and his comrades were giving aid and comfort to McCain’s torturers.

The FBI was desperate to apprehend Ayers and his comrades because they were operating with foreign support and direction and the dozens of bombings they carried out between 1969 and 1975 did an estimated $100 million in damage. A policeman had been killed in San Francisco by a bomb planted by the Weather Underground at a police station. Seven others were injured. Eight were injured in the Weather Underground bombing of the New York City police department. Fifty-nine policemen were injured in a riot the Weather Underground promoted in Chicago.

If anything, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos was too timid in his questioning of Obama during the April 16 debate. Here’s how Stephanopoulos put it:

A gentleman named William Ayers, he was part of the Weather Underground in the 1970s. They bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol and other buildings. He’s never apologized for that. And in fact, on 9/11, he was quoted in the New York Times, saying, ‘I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.’ An early organizing meeting for your state senate campaign was held at his house and your campaign has said you were ‘friendly.’ Can you explain that relationship for the voters and explain to Democrats why it won’t be a problem?”

A “gentleman” named Bill Ayers? The only reason he’s not in prison today is because the FBI employed allegedly illegal break-ins as part of their search for members of the group. FBI officials thought the break-ins were justified on national security grounds but terrorist lawyers would have had any charges against them thrown out.

Some of the terrorists, of course, did go to prison. Kathy Boudin went to prison for her involvement in an October 20, 1981, armed terrorist assault that left Nyack, New York Police Sgt. Edward O’Grady, Patrolman Waverly Brown and Brinks guard Peter Paige dead. A website, memorial and scholarship have been created in their honor.

David Gilbert also went to prison for his role in that assault. He co-authored the SDS booklet, “U.S. Imperialism,” whose first page includes a quote from the Communist Manifesto. He wrote the book, No Surrender: Writings from an anti-imperialist political prisoner, which includes an endorsement on the back cover from Ward Churchill, the disgraced college professor who achieved notoriety for comparing 9/11 victims to Nazis.

Other titles from the “SDS lit list” of June of 1969 included, Which Side Are You On? US History in Perspective, Cuba vs U.S Imperialism, and Cultural Revolution in China. SDS literature regularly referred to police as “pigs.”

Hillary Clinton, during the debate in which the subject of Ayers came up, meekly noted that Obama “served on a board with Mr. Ayers for a period of time, the Woods Foundation, which was a paid directorship position.” Notice how Senator Clinton referred to “Mr. Ayers,” after Stephanopoulos had called him a “gentleman.”

In rebuttal, Obama noted that “President Clinton pardoned or commuted the sentences of two members of the Weather Underground, which I think is a slightly more significant act than me serving on a board with somebody for actions that he did 40 years ago.”

So both of them have something to answer for. And so does George Soros.

The Soros Connection

One of the terrorists pardoned by Clinton was Linda Evans, who became a “Soros Justice Fellow,” named after the controversial left-wing billionaire, George Soros, who spent millions of dollars to defeat President Bush in 2004. She was given a Soros grant to “increase civic participation of former prisoners.”

This is the same Linda Evans, according to an FBI report, who said that during a trip to Hanoi in 1969 she was shown an anti-aircraft gun, cradled it in her arms, and “wished an American plane would fly over.”

For her part, Dohrn in 2004 was advertised as a featured speaker at the Baltimore branch of the Open Society Institute, a group funded by Soros. Her topic was discipline in schools.

You can see what they have in mind for America’s youth in how Chesa Boudin turned out. He was raised by Dohrn and Ayers because his real parents, Weather Underground members Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, had gone to prison. Chesa Boudin, who went to Yale, where he was a leader of the Yale Coalition for Peace, was selected as a Rhodes Scholar and is a big fan of “The Venezuelan Revolution,” which just happens to be in the title of a book that he co-authored that is sympathetic to the brand of communism being promoted by Hugo Chavez. He reportedly lived in Venezuela so he could support the Chavez government. “To our fathers and mothers, who brought politics to our lives,” says the acknowledgements. They sure did.

Chesa Boudin is also an editor of “Letters From Young Activists,” a 2005 book about a new “movement” for “progressive social change” that includes a preface from Bernardine Dohrn, who praises the “young militants” for trying to change the world. The book includes an endorsement from convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and gives thanks to “lifelong activist and educator Bill Ayers.”

“Dear Dad,” writes Chesa Boudin in a letter published in the book. He tells his father, convicted and incarcerated terrorist David Gilbert, that “Che Guevara would have described your revolutionary spirit as guided by love.”

It turns out that Bill Ayers’ brother, Rick, who accused Hillary of McCarthyism, is also an “educator.” He was a teacher at Berkeley High School, where he developed a program that sent students to foreign countries like Cuba and Mexico to learn about “social justice.” The author of a book about teenage slang, he has teamed up with his brother and Bernardine Dohrn to edit the forthcoming book, Zero Tolerance, advertised as an argument against using tough discipline in schools.

Apparently, school officials are just supposed to let student troublemakers have the run of the place, like the SDS tried to do on college campuses.

The Obama Youth Movement

An objective observer might conclude that Ayers, Dohrn and their comrades are now dedicated to creating a new student and youth movement, like the one they participated in which eventually developed into a full-blown terrorist organization that killed our fellow citizens and tried to eliminate the “Thin Blue Line” of police separating us from the criminals.

In this new crusade, they not only have an inspiring leader, Barack Obama, who attracts young people with his promise of “change,” but a moneybags named Soros, who has funded causes such as rights for convicted felons and legalization of dope.

“I have very high regard for Hillary Clinton, but I think Obama has the charisma and the vision to radically reorient America in the world,” Soros recently told Judy Woodruff of Bloomberg Television. “I think that he has shown to be a really unusual person.”

On April 8, according to Politico’s Ben Smith, Soros hosted a dinner that spawned a new group, Progressive Media USA, which plans on spending $40 million to defeat McCain’s presidential bid and ensure the election of the Democratic candidate, which Soros hopes will be Obama.

After Hillary’s attack over Ayers backfired and led to charges of McCarthyism, Senator John McCain brought it up, noting on ABC’s “This Week” program that Ayers was an “unrepentant terrorist.” At the same time, McCain said he would not question Obama’s patriotism.

But the patriotism of Frank Marshall Davis can certainly be questioned. And Obama should be asked why he referred to this pro-Soviet communist in his book only as “Frank.”

Pickling to preserve your Victory Garden Harvest

One way to preserve the results of your Victory Garden is to pickle some, if not most, of your harvest. Here’s why.

The USDA recommends using frozen foods within 6 months. The USDA also recommends using home-canned items, such as tomatoes, within a year. But with due diligence pickled foods can last two or more years. We’ve personally used dill pickles, green tomatoes and jalapeno peppers three years after pickling.

Here are a few other things to remember.

Vinegar, honey and salt are natural preservatives. Honey is not only a preservative, but it is also a natural antibiotic. One can open a jar of honey and leave it out; exposed to all types of air-borne mold spores and bacteria, and 30 years later it will still have no mold growing. The ancient Egyptians would place dead infants and small children in large urns, cover them with honey, and 3,000 years later, archeologists discovered the bodies preserved with remarkably little change.

During the U.S. Civil War, salt pork was a food staple. Salt is not too good for the heart, but it is a natural preservative. Because of the acid content in vinegar, it acts much the same as honey, except vinegar evaporates so it must be kept covered. Regardless of the preservation abilities of honey, salt and vinegar, we recommend keeping all pickled foods covered and if possible, once the jar is opened, keep it under refrigeration. If refrigeration is not available, once the jar is opened, consume quickly – don’t gamble with your family’s health.

Sauerkraut is really nothing more than pickled cabbage. The vegetable items that can be pickled is literally wide-open. Cauliflower, carrots, beets and yes, even tomatoes can be successfully pickled.

Whenever it suits our taste buds, we try to use combinations of salt, vinegar and honey when we pickle. One must adjust the following suggested recipes to the family’s personal preferences. EXPERIMENT!!!

Crisp Dill Pickles

Dill pickles

3 qts boiling water
1qt white 5% vinegar
Fresh Dill
1 Cup coarse salt (Kosher) or pickling salt
1 tsp. mustard seed in each quart
1 clove of garlic (or more to taste) in each quart
If you can find grape leaves, put one in each jar, and celery and carrots are supposed to make them crisper.

Scrub pickles to remove impurities and the little black spiney things.

Soak pickles in ice-cold water for an hour or more. After soaking, cut off about ¼” of the flower end of each pickle, (not the stem end).

Boil vinegar, water and salt.

Sterilize jars, lids and rings in boiling water.

Put dill, mustard seed and garlic in the bottom of the jars, add pickles, then pour boiling pickling solution into the jars.

Put jar tops on and seal tight. Place jars into boiling water, then turn off the heat and let the water cool to room temperature.

Make sure the lids seal.

Store at least a month to allow the pickling process to complete.

HINTS:

Omit the garlic, mustard seed and dill, and follow the same procedure for pickling jalapeno or other hot chili peppers. (See recipe for pickled jalapenos for more detailed directions.)

If you want a quart of more of hot, spicy pickles that teens seem to crave, just toss a jalapeno pepper into each jar.

When frost is coming and you want to preserve the dozens of green and partially ripened tomatoes in your Victory Garden, follow the recipe for dill pickles substituting the tomatoes for pickles. Simply quarter large tomatoes and halve small tomatoes before adding to the jar. When they are ready to eat, the skins will peel off very easily.

Pickled Jalapeno Peppers

PICKLED JALAPENOS

Use whole or sliced jalapenos

Boil a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water with ¼ cup of pickling salt. (We use two quarts each of water and vinegar and what isn’t used on one day can be used the next since jalapenos are very prolific)

Bring a pot of plain water to a boil and par-boil the whole jalapenos for a few minutes (3 to 5 minutes is recommended.)

Put a slit or “X” in the side of each chili, or cut into slices, so it can absorb the pickling solution, place into appropriate jars (we use pints) and pour the vinegar/salt solution to cover.

Seal and place into boiling water (do NOT cover the lids) and turn off the heat.

Let cool to room temperature. Make sure jars seal.

Then store for about a month before enjoying.

After a jar is opened, keep under refrigeration, if possible, just to be on the safe side.

Bread and Butter Pickles

SIMPLE BUT DELICIOUS BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES

4 quarts of dill pickles (store bought) (thick sliced or chunked)
2 pounds of sugar
1-1/2 bottles of Tabasco

Layer pickles, sugar and Tabasco in a glass jar or plastic container with a tight fitting lid. DO NOT ADD ANY OF THE PICKLING LIQUID - DURING THE PICKLING PROCESS THE SLICES WILL PRODUCE THEIR OWN LIQUID.

Leave on cabinet for a day, turning the container over and lightly shaking periodically.

Refrigerate and continue routine for at least three days before eating.

Modify amounts to suit your family. For example: 1 quart of pickles, 1/2 pound of sugar and ½ bottle of Tabasco. These make a great treat at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Pickled Beets

PICKLED BEETS

Boil peeled whole beets straight from your Victory Garden until tender. Preserve the cooking liquid.

Slice beets into ¼ “ slices

Slice an onion the same way, allowing one medium onion per quart of pickled beets.

For each cup of the preserved cooking liquid add an equal amount of sugar or honey and vinegar. Bring to a boil.

Place sliced beets, onion and cloves into jars (either quarts or pints) and pour boiling liquid into the jars. Seal with rings and lids.

Bring a pot of water to a boil and place jars of beets into the boiling water, being careful to NOT cover the lids. Turn off the heat and let the beets cool to room temperature making sure the lids seal.

These can be eaten immediately after cooling but I recommend refrigerating them before serving.

Pickled Polish or smoked sausage

PICKLED POLISH OR SMOKED SAUSAGE

2 lb. Polish sausage (Kielbasa) OR smoked sausage
1 c. water

3/4 c. honey

3 c. white vinegar

2 tsp. crushed red pepper or more to taste
1 Tbsp. pickling salt

Cut sausage into 2-1/2” to 3” lengths.
Put sausage in a jar with 1 medium sliced onion.
Buy pre-cooked (not raw) sausage and don't re-cook.
Boil rest of ingredients and simmer 5 minutes.
Pour over sausage and let set in refrigerator 1-2 days before serving.

Pickled Eggs

12 hard cooked Eggs*, peeled
2 cups Vinegar
3/4 cups Water
1 med. Onion, sliced and separated in rings (vidalia or spanish)

3 tsp. pickling salt

Directions

Boil all ingredients (except eggs) for 5 minutes and then pour into a
wide-mouth jar or container and add hard cooked eggs.

Cover and let sit at least overnight in refrigerator before eating.

Will keep for weeks if kept covered.

Pickled Summer Squash

SQUASH PICKLES

8 cups yellow squash, sliced
4 cups sweet pepper, sliced
2 cups onions, sliced
3 cups sugar or honey
3 cups white vinegar
2 tablespoons mustard seed
2 tablespoons celery seed

Mix squash, pepper and onions in water with 2 tablespoons salt.

Let stand for 1 hour.

Pour off water.

Bring vinegar, sugar, mustard and celery seed to a boil.

Place squash, sweet peppers and onion put in sterilized pint jars, pour boiling vinegar mixture into the jars and seal.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and place jars of squash pickles into the boiling water being careful to NOT cover the lids. Turn off the heat and allow to cool to room temperature making sure the lids seal.

Once a jar is opened, keep under refrigeration or eat it all at one sitting

Republican Strategist to Challenge Biden

Political Strategist Christine O’Donnell – a familiar face on national television political news programs –announced her bid to unseat six-term Democrat United States Senator Joe Biden in this November’s election.

The 38-year-old O’Donnell, a nationally known public relations expert, Republican strategist and political commentator argued that “Delaware is suffering from 35 years of ‘Biden fatigue.’”

Filing election papers today, O’Donnell stated, “The Senator has been a typical career politician for years. Biden continues to put his own political ambitions before the needs of Delaware taxpayers...Our Senator must focus on the needs of Delaware families.”

Although he withdrew from his 3rd presidential race in January, Biden recently stated that he still intends to tour the country campaigning on behalf of Democrat Presidential contender, Barack Obama, fueling speculation that Biden is campaigning for a possible Cabinet position in a future Obama Administration.

O’Donnell reports growing widespread support among delegates to the upcoming Delaware Republican Convention on May 3. She will seek the Party’s official endorsement at that convention held this upcoming weekend in Dewey Beach. In her announcement, O’Donnell said she will run an aggressive and organized campaign that will appeal to cross-over voters in Delaware. “Our appeal will focus on the needs of the Delaware residents and taxpayers, especially on economic concerns, and will be oriented to finding solutions to kitchen table issues that affect each of us,” she said.

Why a Victory Garden can help save our republic

A wise man once said that the first step in cleaning up the world was to sweep one's own sidewalk. The premise being that if your neighbors, seeing your effort, sweep their sidewalk and other neighbors join in, before long the world will be swept clean.

While we all hope the ideal Republic our Founders planned can be restored, knowledge of the minds, temperments, greed and lust for power of our current leaders cannot be underestimated.

Even if all the noxious constitutional amendments were overturned, the bureacracy dismembered, many horrible Supreme Court rulings thrown out, the Federal Reserve sent back to Europe, the ACLU disbanded and all the Socialists rooted out of our land, much damage has been done. Some may be permanent - at least it won't be repaired for years.

That damage includes the loss of our, steel, textile and automobile industries, our heavy industrial base and the loss of our small, family farmers.

As you read down further in this blog, you will note that during WWI and WWII, Victory Gardens eventually accounted for 40% of all the fruits and vegetables consumed in America.

I hate to sound like a doomsday prophet, but if a nation can't feed and clothe itself, it is destined for failure.

No-one expects anyone to grow wheat or rice on a 12' x 12' backyard garden, or a container garden on a patio, but one can reasonably expect to grow enough tomatoes, pickles, peas, corn, squash, watermelon, beets or whatever one's family's preferences are, to last the family a year or at least six months.

Learn how to can, dehydrate and in other ways, preserve the harvest. I never cease to be amazed at God's bounty. I have personally picked more than a bushel of beautiful tomatoes off one plant, grown from one little seed. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to go hungry - even if there are shortages at the supermarket.

If in the end we Patriots manage to save our republic, we will want to be well fed, now, won't we? We may yet regain our freedom, liberty, sense of independence and self worth that seem to be so sorely lacking in todays hustle-bustle world and in my opinion, that includes the humble Victory Garden.

OUR PERSONAL VICTORY GARDEN

Victory gardens, also called war gardens or food gardens for defense, were vegetable, fruit and herb gardens planted at private residences in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom during World War I and World War II to reduce the pressure on the public food supply brought on by the war effort.

In addition to indirectly aiding the war effort these gardens were also considered a civil "morale booster" — in that gardeners could feel empowered by their contribution of labor and rewarded by the produce grown.

Making victory gardens became a part of daily life on the home front. Amid regular rationing of canned food in Britain, a poster campaign ("Plant more in '44!") encouraged the planting of Victory Gardens by nearly 20 million Americans. These gardens produced up to 40 percent of all the vegetable produce consumed nationally.

It was emphasised to home front urbanites and suburbanites that the produce from their gardens would help to lower the price of vegetables needed by the US War Department to feed the troops, thus saving money that could be spent elsewhere on the military: "Our food is fighting", one poster read. Basic information about gardening appeared in public services booklets distributed by the Department of Agriculture, as well as by agribusiness corporations such as International Harvester and Beech-Nut.

Victory gardens were planted in backyards and on apartment-building rooftops, with the occasional vacant lot "commandeered for the war effort!" and put to use as a cornfield or a squash patch. During World War II, sections of lawn were publicly plowed for plots in Hyde Park, London to publicize the movement. In New York City, the lawns around vacant "Riverside" were devoted to victory gardens, as were portions of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

In 1946, with the war over, many residents did not plant Victory Gardens in expectation of greater produce availability. However the added pressures of supplying liberated Europe meant that, in the UK, shortages remained, or in many cases got worse.

My mother got serious about her Victory Garden in 1942, the year I was born. Even after her only brother and my uncle, Harold, was shipped off to fight and die on Okinawa, she continued the tradition.

I've had gardens through the years, but I didn't really get serious until 2004. That's the year I realized that food shortages were emminent. That became obvious when I realized that fresh tomatoes cost about $1.50 each, and other fruits and vegetables carried a sticker that said, "Produce of Mexico."

The lesson really came home to roost when I read a small article that even the Jolly Green Giant had farmed out corn production to Peru and when I travelled to Michigan for a two week visit with my mother she showed me acre after acre of asparagus that was to be plowed under since production of that vegetable was also being turned to overseas growers.

Every year thousands of small farmers sell-out - no longer able to compete in the so-called global economy. Thus, in my humble opinion, the Victory Garden has become more than a passtime, it has become a necessity. Yet in spite of the obvious danger our food supply is in, homeowners more and more frequently turn luscious, fertile back yards into pet runs or even worse, cement or stone covered patios. A small 10' x 10' area can produce dozens of quarts of tomatoes, beets, pickles or other vegetables of your choice.

Every time a home gardener goes to his or her own pantry and pulls down part of the evening's meal, he or she deprives some foreign producer or government of a sale and thus the profits and at least part of the control over our nation's food supply.

A lot of the food products our few remaining farmers produce, such as wheat and rice, are being shipped overseas because to many people in the "utopian global neighborhood" who can't or won't feed themselves. In fact, as of April 24, 2008, rice was being rationed at such retail giants as Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

We are at war. Not with Germany, Japan or Italy, but with radical Islam - and to a large degree - our own government.

The sooner the American public wakes up and begins to assume some small control over its destiny, the better off we will all be. And that control may consist of nothing more than growing a little garden - a Victory Garden.

Dedicating the memorial at a Gettysburg, Abraham Lincoln said of America, "We are now engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether this nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure."

Those words are true again. I believe that we are again engaged in a great civil war, a cultural war that's about to hijack your birthright to think and say what resides in your heart. I fear you no longer trust the pulsing lifeblood of liberty inside you...the stuff that made this country rise from wilderness into the miracle that it is.

Let me back up. About a year ago I became president of the National Rifle Association, which protects the right to keep and bear arms. I ran for office, I was elected, and now I serve...I serve as a moving target for the media who've called me everything from "ridiculous" and "duped" to a "brain-injured senile, crazy old man." I know...I'm pretty old...but I sure Lord ain't senile.

As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that.

I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated.

For example, I marched for civil rights with Dr. King in 1963 - long before Hollywood found it fashionable. But when I told an audience last year that white pride is just as valid as black pride or red pride or anyone else's pride, they called me a racist.

I've worked with brilliantly talented homosexuals all my life. But when I told an audience that gay rights should extend no further than your rights or my rights, I was called a homophobe.

I served in World War II against the Axis powers. But during a speech, when I drew an analogy between singling out innocent Jews and singling out innocent gun owners, I was called an anti-Semite.

Everyone I know knows I would never raise a closed fist against my country. But when I asked an audience to oppose this cultural persecution, I was compared to Timothy McVeigh.

From Time magazine to friends and colleagues, they're essentially saying, "Chuck, how dare you speak your mind. You are using language not authorized for public consumption!"

But I am not afraid. If Americans believed in political correctness, we'd still be King George's boys - subjects bound to the British crown.

In his book, "The End of Sanity," Martin Gross writes that "blatantly irrational behavior is rapidly being established as the norm in almost every area of human endeavor. There seem to be new customs, new rules, new anti-intellectual theories regularly foisted on us from every direction.

Underneath, the nation is roiling. Americans know something without a name is undermining the nation, turning the mind mushy when it comes to separating truth from falsehood and right from wrong. And they don't like it."

Let me read a few examples.

• At Antioch College in Ohio, young men seeking intimacy with a coed must get verbal permission at each step of the process from kissing to petting to final copulation...all clearly spelled out in a printed college directive.

• In New Jersey, despite the death of several patients nationwide who had been infected by dentists who had concealed their AIDS, the state commissioner announced that health providers who are HIV-positive need not...need not...tell their patients that they are infected.

• At William and Mary, students tried to change the name of the school team "The Tribe" because it was supposedly insulting to local Indians, only to learn that authentic Virginia chiefs truly like the name.

• In San Francisco, city fathers passed an ordinance protecting the rights of transvestites to cross-dress on the job, and for transsexuals to have separate toilet facilities while undergoing sex change surgery.

• In New York City, kids who don't speak a word of Spanish have been placed in bilingual classes to learn their three R's in Spanish solely because their last names sound Hispanic.

• At the University of Pennsylvania, in a state where thousands died at Gettysburg opposing slavery, the president of that college officially set up segregated dormitory space for black students.

Yeah, I know...that's out of bounds now. Dr. King said "Negroes." Jimmy Baldwin and most of us on the March said "black." But it's a no-no now.
For me, hyphenated identities are awkward...particularly "Native-American." I'm a Native American, for God's sake. I also happen to be a blood-initiated brother of the Miniconjou Sioux. On my wife's side, my grandson is a thirteenth generation native American...with a capital letter on "American."

Finally, just last month...David Howard, head of the Washington, D.C. Office of Public Advocate, used the word "niggardly" while talking to colleagues about budgetary matters. Of course, "niggardly" means stingy or scanty. But within days Howard was forced to publicly apologize and resign.

As columnist Tony Snow wrote: "David Howard got fired because some people in public employ were morons who (a) didn't know the meaning of niggardly, (b) didn't know how to use a dictionary to discover the meaning, and (c) actually demanded that he apologize for their ignorance."

What does all of this mean? It means that telling us what to think has evolved into telling us what to say, so telling us what to do can't be far behind.

Before you claim to be a champion of free thought, tell me: Why did political correctness originate on America's campuses? And why do you continue to tolerate it? Why do you, who're supposed to debate ideas, surrender to their suppression?

Let's be honest. Who here thinks your professors can say what they really believe?

It scares me to death and should scare you too, that the superstition of political correctness rules the halls of reason.

You are the best and the brightest. You, here in the fertile cradle of American academia, here in the castle of learning on the Charles River, you are the cream. But I submit that you, and your counterparts across the land, are the most socially conformed and politically silenced generation since Concord Bridge. And as long as you validate that...and abide it...you are - by your grandfathers' standards - cowards.

Here's another example. Right now at more than one major university, Second Amendment scholars and researchers are being told to shut up about their findings or they'll lose their jobs. Why? Because their research findings would undermine big-city mayors...pending lawsuits that seek to extort hundreds of millions of dollars from firearm manufacturers.

I don't care what you think about guns. But if you are not shocked at that, I am shocked at you. Who will guard the raw material of unfettered ideas, if not you? Who will defend the core value of academia, if you supposed soldiers of free thought and expression lay down your arms and plead, "Don't shoot me."
If you talk about race, it does not make you a racist. If you see distinctions between the genders, it does not make you a sexist. If you think critically about a denomination, it does not make you anti-religion. If you accept but don't celebrate homosexuality, it does not make you a homophobe.

Don't let America's universities continue to serve as incubators for this rampant epidemic of new McCarthyism.

But what can you do? How can anyone prevail against such pervasive social subjugation?

The answer's been here all along.

I learned it 36 years ago, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., standing with Dr. Martin Luther King and two hundred thousand people.

You simply...disobey.

Peaceably, yes. Respectfully, of course. Nonviolently, absolutely.

But when told how to think or what to say or how to behave, we don't. We disobey social protocol that stifles and stigmatizes personal freedom.

I learned the awesome power of disobedience from Dr. King...who learned it from Gandhi, and Thoreau, and Jesus, and every other great man who led those in the right against those with the might.

Disobedience is in our DNA. We feel innate kinship with that disobedient spirit that tossed tea in to Boston Harbor, that sent Thoreau to jail, that refused to sit in the back of the bus, that protested a war in Viet Nam.

In that same spirit, I am asking you to disavow cultural correctness with massive disobedience of rogue authority, social directives and onerous law that weaken personal freedom.

But be careful...it hurts.

Disobedience demands that you put yourself at risk. Dr. King stood on lots of balconies.

You must be willing to be humiliated...to endure the modern-day equivalent of the police dogs at Montgomery and the water cannons at Selma.

You must be willing to experience discomfort. I'm not complaining, but my own decades of social activism have taken their toll on me. Let me tell you a story.

A few years back I heard about a rapper named Ice-T who was selling a CD called "Cop Killer" celebrating ambushing and murdering police officers. It was being marketed by none other than Time/Warner, the biggest entertainment conglomerate in the world.

Police across the country were outraged. Rightfully so - at least one had been murdered. But Time/warner was stonewalling because the CD was a cash cow for them, and the media were tiptoeing around it because the rapper was black.
I heard Time/Warner had a stockholders meeting scheduled in Beverly Hills. I owned some shares at the time and decided to attend.

What I did there was against the advice of my family and colleagues. I asked for the floor. To a hushed room of a thousand average American stockholders, I simply read the full lyrics of "Cop Killer" - every vicious, vulgar, instructional word.

"I GOT MY 12 GAUGE SAWED OFF
I GOT MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF
I'M ABOUT TO BUST SOME SHOTS OFF
I'M ABOUT TO DUST SOME COPS OFF..."

It got worse, a lot worse. I won't read the rest of it to you. But trust me, the room was a sea of shocked, frozen, blanched faces. The Time/Warner executives squirmed in their chairs and stared at their shoes. They hated me for that.

Then I delivered another volley of sick lyric brimming with racist filth, where Ice-T fantasizes about sodomizing two 12-year old nieces of Al and Tipper Gore.
"SHE PUSHED HER BUTT AGAINST MY..."

Well, I won't do to you here what I did to them. Let's just say I left the room in echoing silence. When I read the lyrics to the waiting press corps, one of them said "We can't print that." "I know," I replied, "but Time/Warner's selling it."

Two months later, Time/Warner terminated Ice-T's contract. I'll never be offered another film by Warner, or get a good review from Time magazine. But disobedience means you must be willing to act, not just talk.

When a mugger sues his elderly victim for defending herself...jam the switchboard of the district attorney's office.

When your university is pressured to lower standards until 80% of the students graduate with honors...choke the halls of the board of regents.

When an 8-year-old boy pecks a girl's cheek on the playground and gets hauled into court for sexual harassment...march on that school and block its doorways.

When someone you elected is seduced by political power and betrays you...petition them, oust them, banish them.

When Time magazine's cover portrays millennium nuts as deranged, crazy Christians holding a cross as it did last month...boycott their magazine and the products it advertises.

So that this nation may long endure, I urge you to follow in the hallowed footsteps of the great disobediences of history that freed exiles, founded religions, defeated tyrants, and yes, in the hands of an aroused rabble in arms and a few great men, by God's grace, built this country.

If Dr. King were here, I think he would agree.

We all love to hate the Internal Revenue Service – the IRS. That particularly obnoxious bureau of the Treasury Department is the obvious, up-front target of our frustrations.

But is the IRS really the culprit? The answer is a resounding NO!!!

The true culprit is Congress and US – you and me.

While it is true that our ancestors allowed the submission and eventual ratification of the 16th Amendment, we, you and I, have allowed that evil, amendment and its demon off-spring, the IRS, to live. If we truly want to save our Republic, we MUST control or eliminate most existing taxes, eliminate new taxes and cut back and severely downsize federal, state and even in some cases, local spending. That will start with the total elimination of the IRS, repeal of the 16th Amendment and a grassroots movement to force our Congress-critters to obey the Constitution.

To say that taxes have gotten out of control is the biggest understatement one can imagine. Yet, while we groan under the burden, congressional Democrats and many Republicans are gleefully rubbing their hands together in anticipation of future tax hikes if either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama are elected.

Here is the entire text of an e-letter I received from my congressional Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-5th District, Louisiana. He sits on the Appropriations Committee, so he knows whereof he speaks.

"Majority's Budget Resolution Contains Historic Tax Hike

"At a time when so many Americans are enduring the effects of a weakened economy and sinking deeper into anxiety over mortgage payments, high gas prices, rising health care costs and job losses, House majority leadership pushed through a budget resolution that essentially shrugs off these concerns.

"In addition to raising taxes, the House budget resolution, which passed the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 13, completely fails to address immediate concerns facing Social Security and Medicare, specifically the unfunded liabilities of approximately $38.7 trillion.

"The plan allows the unfunded liability in Medicare and Social Security to grow by $14 trillion, imposing more than $40,000 in new long-term debt on every American.

"During the Budget Committee hearings, my committee colleagues and I in the (Republican) minority supported an amendment to put a stop to the practice of raiding the Social Security surplus to fund general spending in an effort to address the unsustainable rate of spending growth. Unfortunately, the amendment was rejected by the (Democrat) majority.

"On a similar note, a minority-sponsored amendment was also offered during the hearings to stop taxing retirement income. The majority defeated this measure as well.

"Instead of making these vital changes to the budget resolution, the (Democrat) majority produced a plan with the largest tax increase in history during a time of economic downturn. The majority’s budget raises taxes by $683 billion over five years by raising marginal rates for all workers, eliminating the 10-percent bracket for low-income workers, increasing taxes $500 per child, reimposing the marriage penalty and death tax, and eliminating incentives for investment in U.S. businesses. It also includes a $70-billion tax increase to pay for a one-year alternative minimum tax patch.

"During this uncertain time, America needs a budget that will put us on the path to recovery, but this budget plan will only cause further regression. This budget resolution will reverse the economic gains achieved under the 2001 and 2003 tax laws, which have generated 8.3 million new jobs and a 5.5-percent year-over-year increase in business investment.

"It also cancels out the tax-reducing Economic Stimulus Package, as the tax increase is more than four times the size of the stimulus.When the stimulus passed, Congressional leaders told America they were putting the power back into the hands of the people, but now they have reverted back to their old taxing ways – before the rebate checks were even mailed. For the average Louisianian, the tax hike results in an additional $2,642 in taxes each year. Those of us living in the 5th Congressional District can expect to fork up an extra $1,233 each year. If these taxes are not whittled down when the House and Senate reconcile their budget resolutions, everyone who is expecting a rebate this year might want to hold onto it for a little while.They will likely need it to pay their extra taxes next year."

Charles Rangel, in explaining his "Mother of All Tax Reforms" bill, which would raise taxes by $3.5 trillion over the next ten years, says his bill would:

"restore a sense of equity and fairness that is critical to the success of our voluntary tax system."

Voluntary tax system? Are we living in the same country? Federal withholding is not voluntary. The tax code has nothing voluntary about it. If you don't pay they put garnishes on your wages, then liens on your property and then you go to prison.

Voluntary? In the IRS realm, unlike the rest of the US justice system, the accused are presumed guilty until they can prove themselves innocent. And the IRS will use their full power under the law, with guns blazing, even over a minor dispute.

Today I got a letter from the IRS claiming that I owe them $766, a small sum and I think that they are wrong. But here is the "we will destroy you" content of the letter I received:

"This is our notice of our intent to levy (take) any state tax refunds that you might be entitled to. In addition, we will begin to search for other assets that we might levy."

Mr. Rangel, what exactly do you mean by "voluntary?" The IRS can put a lien on my home for a $766 dispute?

The election of an American president has become little more than a farce. Principled stands on issues, and believe me, there are plenty of pressing issues, are few and far between in the 2008 election cycle.

Republican candidate John McCain has taken a stand on national security, while Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have taken stands on separate versions of “Universal” health care. Clinton and Obama, have allowed their campaigns to degenerate to mud-slinging, fund-raising and empty rhetoric.

What about border security? What about our slumping economy – our national debt and runaway spending? The Democrat response, predictably, is to eliminate the Bush tax cuts and raise taxes. Candidates who faced and addressed those issues, namely Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, dropped out of the race due to lack of public support and probably lack of financing. Romney was putting his personal funds on the line and the last I heard Paul only had about $9 million in the bank.

Apparently the next president will be the one who can peddle the most influence, looks best on television and further Balkanize (divide) our country by appealing to the most voters in ethnic and special interest groups such as Hispanic and black voters, “young” voters, women voters and the kook fringe of environmental wackos and gays.

First, let’s look at fund-raising, keeping in mind that campaign finance reports always lag behind actual money raised.

The two remain in a tight competition for the most raised since the start of 2007 and are nearly tied in the number of delegates they've won from the primary contests.

Sadly, it didn’t take long for the constitutional method of electing a president to fall under the wheels of “progress” and politics.

The Constitution NEVER mentioned the popular election of the chief executive who was instead, to be chosen by a body of electors appointed by the LEGISLATURES of the respective states.

Because of the vague wording in Article II, Section 1, some states began almost immediately to hold general elections to choose the electors, which in a period of less than 40 years resulted in a president being elected by popular vote – and we can all see where that has led.

In 1828 Andrew Jackson became the first president elected mainly by popular vote. He considered himself “a direct representative of the common man,” rather than the administrator of the international affairs of the sovereign states that comprise the Union.

Below is the actual wording of the Constitution:

Article. II.
Section. 1.

Clause 1: “The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows

Clause 2: “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Clause 3: “The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.”

This clause was superceded by the adoption of Amendment XII.

Twelfth Amendment (1804): Changes the method of presidential elections so that members of the electoral college cast separate ballots for president and vice president.

President George Washington appeared to see the writing on the wall and greatly feared a pending party system would become little more than a popularity contest between individuals and political philosophies instead of principled debate over issues. The needs of a growing nation would end up subservient to the wishes of a minority of ambitious men and according to Washington, could even lead to foreign influence in the American electoral process.

Washington refused to run for a third term, establishing a two-term precedent that was to stand until 1940 and eventually to be enshrined in the Constitution as the 22nd Amendment. Washington warned in his Farewell Address against involvement in European wars, and lamented the rising North-South sectionalism and party spirit in politics that threatened national unity. The party spirit, he lamented:

“serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”

Even as Washington served as President, coalitions and alliances began to form. It wasn’t long before those alliances were named and the party system of politics began.

With the start of the new government under the Constitution, President George Washington appointed his former chief of staff, Alexander Hamilton, to the office of Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton wanted a strong national government with financial credibility. Hamilton proposed the ambitious Hamiltonian economic program that involved assumption of the state debts incurred during the Revolutionary War, creating a national debt and the means to pay it off, and setting up a national bank. James Madison, Hamilton's ally in the fight to ratify the United States Constitution, dropped his nationalism in response to demands in his Virginia district and joined with Jefferson in opposing Hamilton's program.

By 1790 Hamilton started building a nationwide coalition. Realizing the need for vocal political support in the states, he formed connections with like-minded nationalists and used his network of treasury agents to link together friends of the government, especially merchants and bankers, in the new nation's dozen major cities. His attempts to manage politics in the national capital to get his plans through Congress, then, "brought strong responses across the country. In the process, what began as a capital faction soon assumed status as a national faction and then, finally, as the new Federalist party.”

By 1792 or 1794 newspapers started calling Hamilton supporters "Federalists" and their opponents "Democrats", "Republicans", Jeffersonians, or Democratic-Republicans. The Democratic-Republican Party (unrelated to the present-day Republican Party), was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792. It became the dominant political party until the 1820s, when it split into competing factions, one of which became the modern-day Democratic Party. Its members identified the party as the Republicans, Jeffersonians, Democrats,[1] or combinations of these (Jeffersonian republicans, etc.).[2]
Jefferson and Madison created the party in order to oppose the economic and foreign policies of the Federalists, a party created a year or so earlier by Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. The party's elected presidents were Thomas Jefferson (1800 and 1804), James Madison (1808 and 1812), and James Monroe (1816 and 1820). The party soon dominated Congress and most state governments outside of New England. By 1820, the Federalists were no longer acting as a national party; there was little to hold the Democratic-Republican Party together. William H. Crawford in 1824 was the last nominee by the Congressional nominating caucus; but the majority of the party boycotted the caucus. Henry Clay finished fourth in the election that year, behind John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and William Crawford. Their factions became separate parties after the election, of which the Jacksonians became the basis of the present Democratic Party; the National Republicans were absorbed into the Whig coalition which faded out before the American Civil War.

Checks and balances, in referring to the federal government, are commonly thought to apply to the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the government to keep one branch from seizing power. This system of checks and balances could rightly be called a horizontal check, and applied only to the federal branch of the government.

Little understood by many is the “vertical check” that was placed on Congress to ensure that the states had their fair say in the running of the federal government. That “check” came in the form of the Constitution itself under Article I, Section 3.

“The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote.”

First one must understand that the federal government is an agent, hired by the states and the people, to represent our interests in national and international matters. The people have their voice in the federal government through the election of Representatives to the House of Representatives. The states were to have their voice through the Senate.

But passage of the 17th Amendment changed all that. The 17th Amendment reads: “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each state shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the state legislatures.

“When vacancies happen in the representation of any state in the Senate, the executive authority of such state shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, that the legislature of any state may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

“This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.”

The once powerful voice of the sovereign states was effectively silenced by passage of the 17th Amendment and was replaced by the now extremely powerful voice of special interest groups led by lobbyists for various causes and interests. State governors have become mere figure-heads, the senate has become a mini-House of Representatives (only with more power), and the people? Well, we appear to exist only at election time when the hogs belly up to the trough for even more federal largess.

People from states other than Massachusetts can do little more than stand by helplessly as Senators such as Ted Kennedy set up literal empires on Capitol Hill, delay presidential appointments and even stick their noses in international affairs. Ex- Klansman and former KKK Exalted Cyclops and Kleagle Robert Byrd set up such a senatorial empire in West Virginia. (Hmmm. I wonder how Byrd feels about Barack Obama running for president.)

Brilliant thinkers with minds far greater than mine have eloquently called for the repeal of the 17th Amendment. It may be the only way to silence the likes of Kennedy and Byrd and believe me, there are more Senators on the Hill just like them only less well known.

James Madison was not only involved in structuring the system, but was also a keeper of its contemporaneous record. He explained in Federalist No. 10 the reason for bicameralism: “Before taking effect, legislation would have to be ratified by two independent power sources: the people's representatives in the House and the state legislatures’ agents in the Senate.”

The need for two powers to concur would, in turn, thwart the influence of special interests, and by satisfying two very different constituencies, would assure the enactment was for the greatest public good.

The system as designed by the Founders was in place for a century and a quarter, from 1789 until 1913, when the Seventeenth Amendment was adopted. The Framers' plan both protected federalism and ensured that relatively few benefits would be provided to special interests.

The 17th Amendment can be repealed if people demand their states and state legislatures vote for repeal and send that demand to Washington. If the Senate then refuses to agree, well then, maybe it’s time to find new Senators who agree the states should have a voice in the running of our Republic. We must demand the federal government repeal the amendment and adhere to the Constitution and the original intent of the Founding Fathers.

One way to save our Republic is to rein in our runaway bureaucracy.

In 2005 the federal government admitted to more than 100 federal agencies employing about 2.7 million civilian workers – or roughly 2-percent of the total U.S. workforce and that bureaucracy has grown.

That does not include employees of the Postal Service (ROUGHLY 900,000 people – S.O.R editor) —who fill full-time permanent positions in the executive branch.

The CBO analysis goes on to state that that portion of the total federal workforce (2.7 million people) basically represents the government’s white-collar employees. Hourly workers, such as stenographers, secretaries, military personnel and congressional and senatorial staff are not counted in this study.

Our Founding Fathers, in declaring independence from Great Britain, noted that King George III had erected a bureaucracy which the colonists considered tyrannical. The following two quotes are directly from the Declaration…

These bureaucracies send out “swarms of officers to harass, us, fine us, regulate us, monitor us and are eating out our substance through taxation and duplication of services. Don’t get me wrong, we need local and state control over our police agencies, prisons, courts and judges and fire departments and several others. We need good roads, sewage disposal, clean water and schools that aren’t falling down, plus, these departments and agencies are subject to local and/or statewide review and approval, unlike the federal bureaucracy and its swarms of nameless, faceless bureaucrats.

But the size and scope of the federal bureaucracy – of the federal government’s role in our lives – isn’t really apparent until one examines the federal government’s role beginning with the president’s cabinet.

President George Washington established the first cabinet which consisted of four people: Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, Secretary of War Henry Knox and Attorney General Edmund Randolph “to advise and assist him in his duties.”

The president’s cabinet has expanded enormously through the years. Nearly all the cabinet level members have built substantial bureaucracies under their direction. I have shown a few under the broad headings below, just to give an idea of the size, scope and power of these often dictatorial agencies. I have also tried to call attention to some of the duplication of services such as Indian Affairs, justice and education. I also highlighted a few bureaus that address women’s issues. (Since when and by what constitutional authority do education and women’s issues that fall under federal jurisdiction?) I also felt it important to highlight parts of the massive federal land grab.

We live in a Republic, not a Democracy

Our great Republic, our nation, is in deep trouble. Not the least of those troubles comes from Americans not understanding our system of government. How can they when most of our elected officials and media types refer to America as a Democracy?

We do not live in a Democracy, even though our so-called leaders wish we did. We live in a Republic; as in “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands…”

In a nutshell, a Republic is a government ruled by law and a Democracy is “majority rules.” Traditionally, a Democracy is a very unstable form of government while a Republic is much more stable.

We will cover more of this later, but for now, let me just say that our Republic is in serious trouble.

The foundation of our Republic is the Constitution and that document and the principles for which it stands are in enormous danger. As I write these words it is March 2, 1008. We are in the middle of a political race to determine who will be the next president of these United States. Will it be Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Sidney McCain III or Mike Huckabee?

The question in my mind is, is any one of these candidates suited to become the next president? First, Obama, Clinton and McCain are all sitting Senators. Why are they out campaigning for higher office while still hauling in an inflated, bloated, ridiculous salary footed by we the taxpayers? How many Senate votes and debates have they missed as they scramble for more power? We could go a long way in preserving our Republic by requiring any office holder who seeks to gain a higher office to first resign from his current office.

Obama and Clinton both want “universal health care” for all Americans. Nowhere in the Constitution is health care mentioned. According to the 10th Amendment, any powers not specifically granted to the federal government by the states, is reserved for the states or the people respectively. That means, quite simply, that if a particular state wants to use state funds to provide health care for its citizens, it can. But the federal government is forbidden due to the 10th Amendment.

Even worse, Obama and Clinton intend to make their universal health care plans MANDATORY. Clinton has even said she would approve of wage garnishment for anyone reluctant to join.

McCain co-sponsored the McCain/Feingold campaign finance act which took a huge chunk out of the 1st Amendment which guarantees all of us freedom of speech.

If any one of the three, McCain, Clinton or Obama is elected president he or she will be required to take an oath. The oath, as prescribed by the Constitution itself, says: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

McCain has already violated the Constitution and Obama and Clinton are chomping at the bit for their chance. A refreshing step toward upholding our Republic would be for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to refuse to administer the Presidential Oath of Office to anyone who has already pledged to violate that oath in order to get elected.

Clinton is a liberal (Socialist?) and Obama is even further left than she. In fact, if Obama took one step further to the left he would be in danger of falling off the world. But is McCain a liberal as well? I’ll let my 86-year-old mother answer that. She is a die-hard, card-carrying union member as well as a life-long Democrat and she told me last week she will vote for McCain before she sees a black man become president. She says there is something sneaky about him. She doesn’t like Hillary either because the shrillness of her voice gives her a headache.
